Afshan joined the Employment, Pensions & Mobility group with experience of working closely with trustee clients on a wide range of pensions matters including buy-ins and buy-outs, equalisation, scheme sectionalisation, pension consultations, member transfer and options exercises, member disputes, scheme governance and pensions tax.
Afshan also regularly advises employers, lenders and investors on pensions issues arising in transactions, including issues relating to automatic enrolment, TUPE transfers and defined benefit schemes.
Afshan trained as a civil law barrister and also brings with her experience of working in industry with a 'Big 4' consultancy firm and secondment to a bank on commercial law matters.
Her past experience has also included advising trustees on an industry-wide multi-sectional pension scheme, advising trustees on scheme sectionalisation and crown guarantees in relation to a DB pension scheme, secondment to one of the UK's largest pensions schemes concentrating on pensions disputes.
