It's one of the most hyped topics in the tech world par excellence: the Metaverse. Companies around the world are working flat out to open the door to the next internet age. A world that we not only see through the monitor or smartphone, but in which we can immerse ourselves and move freely through virtual or augmented reality glasses.
But what exactly is "the Metaverse"? What is the difference between Web1, 2 and 3? Is the technological breakthrough really imminent? Why are companies from almost every industry interested in the Metaverse?
And above all: What legal challenges do the 3D worlds present us with? Can case law keep up with technological developments?
Host Dr. Axel von dem Bussche, member of the management board of Taylor Wessing, in the next episode of "Tech & Law TV" with his guests:
- the US lawyer and metaverse expert Zach Lewis from the law firm Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz - the trademark lawyer Dr. Christian Tenkhoff, who also deals intensively with topics such as Web3, blockchain technology, NFTs and the Metaverse at Taylor Wessing.
In 2021, Zach created Blockchain Barristers, an active global community that includes hundreds of lawyers and law students focused on legal issues surrounding blockchain technology, cryptocurrency, NFTs, the metaverse, Web3, and beyond. He currently serves as the lead community manager, compiling open access resources and facilitating virtual and in-person discussions for members in addition to working on other benefits.
