Leading networking forum for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender real estate professionals, Freehold, has been recognised in EG's (formerly known as Estate Gazette) annual Top 50 Collaborators list, coming in third.
Supported by international law firm Taylor Wessing, Freehold was set up as an industry first network exclusively for the real estate sector and has attracted over 1200 members since launching in 2011. Its work in addressing the importance of diversity and inclusion, as well as initiatives that support professionals across the industry secured this recognition.
The Top 50 Collaborators in real estate is decided by The EG team and a panel of judges, showcasing those in the industry working hard together with peers, politicians, the public and technology to deliver an improved public realm and property sector.
Commenting on the accolade, Saleem Fazal, real estate partner and co-founder of Freehold, said: "Real estate is a sector that is behind many others when it comes to diversity and inclusion. Freehold was set up to tackle this inequality and improve the work environment for LGBT+ employees.
We stage regular events hosted by leading industry players where support is offered and lasting friendships and business connections are formed. Many mentees and members are now industry LGBT+ role models for the next generation and many sector-specific and regional networks have sprung from Freehold. This recognition is very much a result of everyone's contribution and commitment. I couldn't be prouder."
This is the second accolade in six weeks that Freehold has received from EG, having been recognised for its outstanding contribution to property at the EG Awards 2018.
