Advertising Quarterly - Q1 2025 – 8 von 8 Insights
Have a look at our latest advertising infographics summarising key aspects of ASA decisions for the quarter (for the period 17 November 2024 to 16 February 2025).
In Q1 2025, the ASA published 72 rulings where 93% were upheld, which is a similar to the 74 rulings and 96% upheld in Q4 2024. There were 245 complaints in Q1 2025, which is an increase from 177 complaints in Q4 2024, but it is similar to the higher numbers of complaints in previous quarters. The average number of days between the publication of an ad and a ruling has decreased to 152 in Q1 2025, from 179 in Q4 2024.
Again, consumers were the most common type of complainant, closely followed by the ASA, which suggests that the ASA is continuing to proactively investigate more ads (especially those not simultaneously complained about by consumers) leading to a ruling. Also, the number of 'other' complainants, which captures industry bodies and campaign groups, has increased to 18%, from 8%, demonstrating a possible trend of greater engagement by these entities in advertising issues.
Average no. of days between publication of ad and ruling: 152
Wahed Invest Ltd (8 January 2025): 75 complaints
There may be multiple issues per ruling.
*An additional 146 complaints were informally resolved but, as details are not published, these are not included in any of our figures.
