Thinking differently

Lie on the beach and drink cocktails all whilst receiving money to do it! Malta's new tourism strategy has certainly caught our eye…

In an attempt to attract visitors back to the heavily tourism dependent country, Malta recently announced a scheme whereby foreign visitors would each receive up to €200 if they book at least three days hotel accommodation on the island during the summer months. Tourists will each receive €200 when staying at a 5 star hotel, whilst those opting for a four star hotel will receive €150. The grant even grows by 10% if you would prefer to visit Gozo rather than mainland Malta.

We think this is a great initiative and one way that Malta can attract overseas visitors to visit the island over competing Mediterranean islands. With the highest adult vaccination rate in the EU (42% of adults vaccinated at the time of writing), we believe Malta will be a hotspot for visitors this summer unless other countries respond with similarly creative ideas in the coming weeks.

All we need now is Ryanair to announce they will pay for us to travel there!
