Poland opens up to IT professionals from around the world - changes to Poland. Business Harbour program

In September, the Polish labour market has opened up to IT specialists and start-ups without national restrictions under a special simplified visa procedure that allows them to take up employment in Poland without having to obtain a work permit first.

The Poland. Business Harbour program is a comprehensive package that facilitates freelancers, start-ups, SMEs and large entities to seamlessly relocate to Poland. So far, it has covered only seven countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine). From now on, a Poland. Business Harbour visa can be obtained by anyone who is recommended by one of the program's partner companies, regardless of the applicant's citizenship. Currently, there are already more than 300 partner companies of the program registered, while the list is continuously updated and available on the program's website at: gov.pl/pbh. This change should be viewed positively as facilitating immigration, employment and business for highly skilled foreign nationals who are genuinely seeking to contribute to the development of businesses in the new technology sector.

In order to apply for this special type of visa, one must document the purpose of obtaining it:

• freelancers: must demonstrate a technical degree or at least one year of experience in the IT sector and proof of interest from one of the program's partner companies;
• start-ups: qualifying for the Poland Prize program;
• larger entities: document confirming eligibility for the program by the Polish Trade and Investment Agency.

Visa applications are submitted directly to the consulate, one of the visa centers or by mail (subject to a fee of EUR 11). These applications are considered on a priority basis, due to the special nature and demand for foreign specialists on the Polish labour market.

A special hotline has also been launched for the program, available at +48 22 334 99 77, which operates from Monday until Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and is available in Polish, Russian and English.

Od września polski rynek pracy otworzył się na specjalistów IT oraz start-upów bez ograniczeń narodowych w ramach specjalnej uproszczonej procedury wizowej pozwalającej na podjęcie zatrudnienia w Polsce, bez konieczności uzyskania zezwolenia na pracę.

Program Poland. Business Harbour to kompleksowy pakiet, ułatwiający freelancerom, start-upom, MŚP jak i dużym firmom bezproblemową realokację na terytorium Polski. Dotychczas obejmował tylko siedem państw (Armenię, Azerbejdżan, Białoruś, Gruzję, Mołdawię, Rosję i Ukrainę). Od teraz wizę Poland. Business Harbour może otrzymać każdy kto jest rekomendowany przez jedną z firm partnerskich programu, bez względu na obywatelstwo aplikującego. Obecnie zarejestrowano już ponad 300 firm partnerskich programu, zaś lista jest na bieżąco aktualizowana i dostępna na stronie programu gov.pl/pbh. Zmianę tę należy ocenić pozytywnie jako ułatwienie imigracji, podjęcia zatrudnienia i wykonywania działalności gospodarczej przez wysoko wykwalifikowanych cudzoziemców, co powinno przyczyniać się do rozwoju przedsiębiorstw w sektorze nowych technologii.

Aby ubiegać się o ten szczególny rodzaj wizy, należy udokumentować cel jej otrzymania:

• freelancerzy: muszą wykazać posiadane wykształcenie techniczne lub co najmniej roczne doświadczenie w branży IT oraz dowód zainteresowania ze strony jednej z partnerskich firm programu;
• start-upy: zakwalifikowanie do programu Poland Prize;
• większe podmioty: dokument potwierdzający zakwalifikowanie do programu przez Polską Agencję Inwestycji i Handlu

Wniosek o wizę składa się bezpośrednio w konsulacie lub w jednym z centrów wizowych (za opłatą 11 EUR) albo drogą pocztową. Wnioski te są rozpatrywane priorytetowo, z uwagi na szczególny charakter i potrzebę zatrudnienia zagranicznych specjalistów na polskim rynku pracy.

Na potrzeby programu uruchomiona została także specjalna infolinia, dostępna pod numerem +48 22 334 99 77, która działa od poniedziałku do piątku od godziny 8:00 do 16:00 i dostępna jest w językach polskim, rosyjskim i angielskim.
