Gareth is a senior counsel in the Banking & Finance group. He specialises in complex and highly structured financings of commercial real estate acquisitions and developments internationally, representing UK, European and US financial institutions, insurers and debt funds as well as investors and sponsors.
Gareth has a particular focus on the hotels sector, the financing of international real estate assets, senior/mezzanine structures and preferred equity lending. During his career, Gareth has spent time on secondment with GE Capital and Federated Hermes.
Acting for a real estate debt fund in relation to mezzanine facilities totalling c.€119 million for the purpose of funding multiple logistics developments throughout Italy.
Acting for a US insurance company in relation to the €80 million refinancing of 36 Dutch commercial properties.
Acting for a Japanese financial institution in relation to the refinancing of a prime central London property portfolio worth c.£530 million.
Acting on the restructuring and CVA of the Arcadia group (including Top Shop, Top Man and Miss Selfridge).
Acting for a syndicate formed of Helaba, SMBC and ICBC in relation to the £292.5 million refinancing of MediaCity UK (which includes the BBC's Salford Quays site).
Advising longstanding client Crimson Hotels on the refinancing of 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel, Kensington with a syndicate of new lenders, comprised of Clydesdale and Bank Leumi.
