Clare is a senior counsel in the Real Estate group. She has specialised in commercial property law since 2008, and advised owners, investors, funders, developers and asset managers in relation to many high-value transactions. Clare now provides technical legal support to the commercial real estate team, advising on complex transactional points. She also trains the team and clients, keeping both abreast of legal developments.
With responsibility for continual improvement and practice development, she is heavily involved in the adoption of technology.
Clare chairs the Law Society's Property Section committee, and lectures in property law on the Legal Practice Course at the University of Westminster. She also writes widely in a variety of real estate industry publications and national press. She is on the editorial board of the Landlord and Tenant Review, and has contributed expert opinion and industry guidance in the following books published by Ark: Career Development for Women Lawyers; Tomorrow's KM : innovation, best practice, and the future of knowledge management, and Lawyer's guide to the future of practice management. In November 2023, she published 'A Practical Guide to Green Leases for Property Professionals' (Law Brief Publishing).
In 2023, she was shortlisted for the "Unsung Hero" award in both the British Legal Awards and Property Week's Inspiring Women in Property Awards. In 2024, Clare was a commended individual in the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards, shortlisted for an AI project which looked to analyse transaction data and report on the current take up of green leases in the commercial real estate market.
