Sebastien is a partner in our Intellectual Property practice group. He specialises in European patent litigation. His focus is on the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and he has extensive experience before the specialised Dutch patent courts.
As a rare asset among patent litigators, Sebastien has a technical background in applied physics. He is able to quickly grasp the technical essentials of the case and shape these into convincing arguments before court. Sebastien’s technical experience includes a wide range of high-tech subject matter, such as wireless telecommunications, video codec, semiconductors, mobile payment systems and other consumer electronics technologies. Sebastien is a SEP and (F)RAND expert.
Sebastien also represents clients in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sector. He completed advanced studies in biotechnology at a renowned university in Belgium. He has extensive experience in national and cross-border patent and SPC litigation and is often trusted by clients to handle the pan-European coordination of their patent litigation strategies.
Sebastien is a European Patent Attorney and a UPC Representative.
In addition to his previous experience in another international law firm Sebastien was an inhouse European Patent Attorney and Legal IP manager of one of the largest flooring manufacturers in the world, headquartered in the US. He coordinated worldwide patent litigations and settlements. Sebastien’s inhouse experience brings an in-depth understanding of the entire patent lifetime cycle, from patent drafting to litigation and monetisation, which enables him to provide sound and commercially relevant advice.
