Louis Warnking is a member of the Commercial and Distribution Law practice group. As a lawyer, he advises national and international companies on all issues relating to commercial and contract law – from drafting complex supply and distribution agreements to enforcing claims in court. In the context of corporate transactions, he regularly reviews existing customer, distribution, and supply agreements.
A particular focus of his work is advising on regulatory requirements and corporate due diligence obligations along the supply chain. Louis is an expert on the EU Deforestation Regulation (“EUDR”), which he has been closely involved with since its conception, even before it became applicable. He provides pragmatic advice to clients on the implementation of the EUDR. With his in-depth expertise, Louis assists clients in identifying products in scope and adapting existing procurement and compliance structures. He also advises on individual case-related issues and provides document-based support, e.g., by revising existing supply contracts to comply with the EUDR or setting up risk analysis schemes. Louis Warnking also regularly gives lectures and seminars on the EUDR. He also participates as a speaker in discussion panels on the Deforestation Regulation, which gives him cross-sector insights into corporate practices.
He also advises clients on the implementation of the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) and the European Corporate Supply Chain Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). In doing so, he supports his clients in analyzing risks, designing internal processes, and communicating with suppliers, business partners, and authorities. As his legal expertise is complemented by practical experience gained during a secondment at a leading national company, he is able to offer his clients not only legal advice but also a practical perspective.
