Detlef specialises in legal advice in the fields of digitisation, artificial intelligence, data protection and telecommunications. The focus of his practice is complex IT projects.

He also advises the public sector on large-volume IT and infrastructure projects, in particular the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community and its downstream sectors. Detlef has been the regular recipient of awards in recent years and is regarded as one of the most respected IT lawyers in Germany.

Advising the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality on the introduction and commissioning of a new cloud-based IT specialist procedure for health reporting (GBE) and IT procedure management in the field of health policy. Federal Ministry of Digital and Public Administration (BMDS) – Microsoft Sovereign Cloud (MSSC)

Comprehensive advice to the federal government on the migration of stationary Microsoft applications (‘on premise’) to a sovereign cloud solution offered by Delos Cloud GmbH (a subsidiary of SAP SE). Taylor Wessing provided legal advice on all aspects of this extremely extensive and complex project. In particular, we thoroughly reviewed, revised and negotiated the basic cloud agreement. We also provided advice on public procurement law and on the agreement to be concluded with SAP SE.
