Instagrid, Europe's leading provider of high-performance portable battery systems, has raised $95 million in new capital in its Series C funding round. The round was led by Teachers Venture Growth (TVG), part of the CA$250 billion Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTTP). Morgan Stanley's 1GT and existing investors such as Energy Impact Partners, SET Ventures, blueworld.group and Hightech Gründerfonds also participated in the financing round. The Taylor Wessing team, led by Berlin-based partner and VC expert Norman Röchert, advised OTPP on all legal matters in connection with the Series C financing round.
Instagrid is a leading provider of portable, high-performance mobile battery systems for professional use. The company's technology replaces environmentally harmful combustion engines, which are mainly used for mobile power supply on construction sites, at events or in off-grid areas. Instagrid offers a sustainable alternative to fossil-fuelled generators used for mobile work in construction, filming, events and emergency services. Since its launch two years ago, Instagrid has delivered almost 30,000 units of its flagship product to 29 countries. Instagrid's notable customers include Skanska, Loxam (Europe's leading construction hire company), the Swiss Federal Railways and the Red Cross. Instagrid will use the new capital to drive growth by entering the North American market, expanding production and broadening its range of mobile power solutions to decarbonise off-grid power.
Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan manages the assets of more than 336,000 (current and former) teachers in Ontario, Canada, with total net assets of approximately CA$250 billion, consisting of a broad range of investments in listed and unlisted companies, fixed income securities, commodities, infrastructure, real estate and other investments.
