REWE Group has joined Flink SE as an investor and sales partner. REWE holds a minority stake in the fast delivery service via a new venture company. In addition, the food company has agreed on a strategic partnership with the start-up Flink in the area of merchandise supply. The international law firm Taylor Wessing, led by Düsseldorf partner Ernst-Albrecht von Beauvais, provided REWE Group with legal advice on all matters relating to the investment.
The cooperative REWE Group is one of the leading trading and travel and tourism groups in Germany and Europe, with a presence in 22 countries. In 2020, the company achieved a total external turnover of around 75 billion euros. REWE is the market leader in Germany in the delivery and pick-up service segment and relies on the continuous development of Rewe.de.
Flink SE, founded in 2020, is an on-demand food delivery service based in Berlin. The start-up currently offers an app-based delivery service of fresh groceries in 18 cities. The delivery is made by e-bike from a standalone infrastructure with 50 fullfilment centres. With the fresh capital - Flink 2021 has raised a total of 240 million US dollars in investment capital as part of a Series A financing round - and the cooperation with REWE, the Berliners intend to push ahead with the opening of new locations.
