Under the lead of Hamburg partners Dr Tillmann Pfeifer, Carsten Bartholl and Paris partner Nicolas de Witt, a German-French Taylor Wessing team provided comprehensive legal advice to Encavis AG (“Encavis”) on the acquisition of a wind farm currently under construction in northern France.
The acquired wind farm, “Vallée de Joie”, is located in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France and has a planned total capacity of around 41 megawatts (MW). Encavis is acquiring the wind farm from Enertrag SE, which is responsible for its construction. The wind farm comprises seven wind turbines, including six Nordex N163 units and one Nordex N149 unit, each with a capacity of 5.9 MW. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2026.
With this acquisition, Encavis continues its growth strategy in France and expands its onshore wind portfolio in the country to 250 MW. The newly acquired asset represents another step towards diversifying the company’s European portfolio and advancing the decarbonisation of the European energy sector.
The Hamburg-based company is one of Europe’s leading producers of renewable electricity and operates a broadly diversified portfolio of onshore wind farms, ground-mounted solar parks and battery storage systems across 13 European countries, including Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands. In addition, Encavis offers institutional investors attractive opportunities to participate in renewable energy assets. With an installed total capacity of around 4 gigawatts, Encavis makes a significant contribution to sustainable energy supply and to achieving the European climate targets.
Taylor Wessing has repeatedly advised Encavis AG on various transactions involving renewable energy generation assets in several European jurisdictions.
