On 1 April 2023, Thomas Adocker joined the team of Taylor Wessing at its Vienna office as a Partner in the IP/IT Team. Before joining Taylor Wessing, Thomas was a Partner at the Austrian law firm Schwarz Schönherr.
For more than twenty years, Thomas has been active in intellectual property, with a strong focus on patent law, in particular with respect to litigation, licensing and technology transfer. He represents clients in major Austrian patent infringement cases, especially in the pharmaceutical and medical device sectors and has broad know-how in connection with multinational disputes. Additionally, Thomas specializes in Life Sciences and Regulatory issues.
Thomas will significantly enhance Taylor Wessing CEE’s patents and regulatory expertise. Amongst others, he has co-authored a textbook regarding the new Unitary Patent and the new Unified Patent Court (UPC) which will become operational on 1 June 2023. He is co-organizer of a webinar series regarding the UPC which includes appointed UPC judges from Austria, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belgium as panelists. He is thus best prepared to handle matters in the new patent system.
Martin Prohaska-Marchried, who heads the CEE IP team, comments: "Thomas’ comprehensive expertise with multinational cases makes him a highly valuable member of Taylor Wessing´s IP team and in particular of our patent litigators in the UPC territory. We are very much looking forward to working with him”, and Thomas adds: “At Taylor Wessing CEE, I have the opportunity to actively shape the future path of the patents team based on my expertise. I am also looking forward to the international environment of Taylor Wessing.”
