Taylor Wessing has advised the German Encavis AG on the sale of a 49% minority stake in its wind farm portfolio in Austria to the largest regional Austrian energy provider Wien Energie. The portfolio includes three wind farms consisting of a total of 13 wind turbines in Styria and Burgenland with a total generation capacity of 36.2 MW.
The seller was advised by a team from Taylor Wessing Vienna led by the two partners Philip Hoflehner (Corporate) and Peter Solt (Energy). The latter had already advised Encavis on the purchase of the wind farms from the project developer between 2013 and 2017.
In addition to Philip Hoflehner and Peter Solt, the Encavis advisory team for the latest transaction included Martina Stranzinger (senior associate) and Philipp Bunzl (associate), while Wien Energie was advised by partner Marco Steiner and lawyer Christoph Lejsek from the law firm Eisenberger Herzog.
Encavis AG is a company listed on the German stock exchange and a producer of electricity from renewable energies. As one of the leading independent power producers, Encavis acquires and operates solar parks and (onshore) wind parks in ten European countries.
The closing of the transaction took place in December 2020.
