Taylor Wessing advises Mercurius Health on the acquisition of MEDICLIN Robert Janker Klinik

The Robert Janker clinic has a new owner: Mercurius Health, a leading European provider of oncology services, is acquiring the specialist clinic in Bonn, specialised in tumour diseases, from clinic operator MEDICLIN AG (Asklepios Group). A team led by healthcare M&A experts Dr Oliver Kirschner and Stephan Doom and Düsseldorf-based healthcare regulatory law expert Dr Oliver Klöck advised Mercurius on all legal aspects of the acquisition.

The acquisition of the specialist clinic in Bonn also marks Mercurius' entry into the German medical and healthcare market. The deal provides for the renovation of the building and equipping it with the latest technology and equipment. Up to 20 million euros are to be spent on this over the next three years in order to transform Robert Janker Clinic into a prime example of successful transformation projects and thereby illustrate to the German healthcare market Mercurius' core competencies as a provider of B2B services for hospitals and oncology centres. In addition to training and education, this includes advice on remote planning and commissioning as well as on financing issues. Mercurius was previously active in other European countries and on the African continent.

Robert Janker clinic is a specialist clinic for radiotherapy and radio-oncology, palliative medicine, neuroradiology and radiology with an affiliated medical care centre (MVZ) for outpatient radiotherapy and neurosurgery. Founded in 1937, the facility is part of the MEDICLIN AG hospital group, which operates 33 hospitals, six care facilities and eleven MVZs nationwide and maintains approximately 8,300 beds and care beds with about 10,000 employees. MEDICLIN AG is a company of the Asklepios Group.
