Taylor Wessing expands partnership again this month with the appointment of Liz Wilson

International law firm Taylor Wessing has announced the appointment of Liz Wilson as a partner in its Tax and Incentives practice.

Liz joined the firm on Monday from Squire Patton Boggs where she was a Director. Prior to this, Liz spent 13 years at Macfarlanes.

She has considerable experience working on cross-border tax issues across a range of areas including corporate transactions, private equity, commercial agreements, real estate and construction transactions, projects and debt finance.

Liz is dual qualified as a solicitor and a chartered tax adviser. She has a wealth of experience across private equity, real estate, hotels and leisure.

Executive board member and partner, James Goold, said: “Tax is an area of law that is constantly evolving. Our clients see the advantage of not only making sure that they are compliant to existing requirements, but that they are kept abreast of any legal developments that will impact their businesses in the future. Liz is well-regarded in her field and is a perfect fit for us. I look forward to welcoming her to the team."

Welcoming Liz to the firm, Managing Partner, Shane Gleghorn, said: “Our Tax team is an essential part of our business. There are very strong demands from our clients for our team's advice in most transactions and deals that we already support them on. Liz's appointment enhances our capability, providing more focus for clients and the taxation issues that need to be considered across all of their deals and investments. Her wealth of experience is invaluable".

Liz's hire continues a raft of new partner appointments for Taylor Wessing. Paolo Palmigiano joined the firm in October as Head of Competition in the UK and is the sixth UK partner appointment to be announced in the last month. The firm also recently announced the appointments of Nick Storrs and Adrian Toutoungi to the partnership, following news of Alison Dennis' appointment as International Co-Head of Life Sciences and Healthcare, which was announced in July.

International hires were also announced in the Middle East with the appointment of Osama Hassan as the new Managing Partner of Taylor Wessing Dubai. Ivo Deskovic joined as a disputes partner in Vienna alongside Peter Solt who joined as a real estate partner, also based in Vienna. Anne Josephus Jitta joined as a partner specialising in arbitration based in the Netherlands, and Barbora Dubanská joined as the firm's Co-Head of Life Sciences in CEE. She is based in Vienna and Prague.

The firm's partnership continues to increase organically too, and last month mid-year promotions were announced. Colin McCall and Tasmina Goraya in the patents team were appointed to the partnership as of 1 November, while Edward Cooper was promoted to Senior Counsel.
