We have advised premium British skincare brand, Medik8, and leading European mid-market private equity firm, Inflexion, on L'Oréal's acquisition of a majority shareholding in Medik8.
The majority stake investment by L'Oréal will enable Medik8 to deepen its presence in existing markets while expanding globally. Inflexion will retain a minority shareholding, continuing their involvement alongside L'Oréal in this next chapter.
Established in 2009 by British scientist Elliot Isaacs, Medik8 is a premium clinical skincare brand, offering high-quality active skincare products which deliver clinical results without compromising on experience. The company formulates and manufactures its products in-house at its UK Innovation Centre.
Commenting on the transaction, private equity partner Jonny Bethell said: "With significant growth over the past four years under Inflexion's investment, this transaction marks another milestone in Medik8's impressive growth trajectory. It has been great working with the Medik8 and Inflexion teams on this transaction as we continue to play a leading role in advising companies at the forefront of innovation, and making their way into their next stage of growth."
Tom Pemberton, Partner and Head of Consumer at Inflexion, said: "We have worked with Taylor Wessing for many years and I’m always impressed with their commercial, pragmatic and fast-moving approach. Jonny and the team provided great counsel and support in what was a complex and fast-paced transaction. "
Simon Coble, Chief Executive at Medik8 added: “It was great working with Taylor Wessing on this deal. The team provided exceptional guidance during this pivotal moment for our brand. Their dedication ensured that we achieved an outcome that aligns perfectly with our vision.”
