Taylor Wessing Czech Republic in prestigious Legal 500 ratings in seven areas

Taylor Wessing Czech Republic has once again been commended by The Legal 500, the prestigious rating agency that annually ranks top-rated law firms around the world.

Taylor Wessing ranked in the following areas of legal advice:

  • Intellectual Property
  • Commercial, Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions
  • EU and Competition
  • Real Estate and Construction
  • Dispute Resolution
  • Employment
  • Banking, Finance and Capital Markets

“These excellent assessments from prestigious rating agency The Legal 500 are especially appreciated because they are based largely on client feedback. I see this as confirmation that we continue advancing the quality of our services, as compared to last year we have received new recognition, in the Banking and Finance area. As a matter of course I take all these recommendations as our commitment for the future and confirmation of our colleagues’ great work,“ says Dr. Erwin Hanslik, Managing Partner of Taylor Wessing Czech Republic.

This year once again, the Intellectual Property team led by Karin Pomaizlová, which focuses on filing, prosecuting, and enforcing trademark rights, as well as on licensing, unfair competition and domain name disputes, received the prestigious recognition. Clients are typically businesses from the advertising, luxury goods, tobacco and beverage, pharmaceutical, education, IT and software industries. Taylor Wessing Czech Republic also has the ability to use its global network to advise on cross-border transactions.

Karin Pomaizlová, partner at the firm and team leader with experience in all areas of IP and TMT, was recognised for the seventh year in a row in the "Leading Individuals" category, again for the Intellectual Property sector.

The Corporate & M&A team at Taylor Wessing Czech Republic, which regularly advises clients on cross-border transactions and complex M&A matters, was also highly rated. With extensive experience in legal counseling, the team assists clients in all phases of the corporate life cycle. Clients include companies across all sectors and the team is particularly experienced in serving tech businesses, as well as those in the traditional manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors. In addition, the corporate team also provides regulatory advice to Czech public listed companies. The team is led by Janka Brezániová, who specialises in providing legal services in transactional practice, focusing primarily on M&A and corporate and employment law advice.

Markéta Deimelová, a partner of the firm and a European lawyer based in Austria and the Czech Republic with many years of experience advising national and international clients on corporate, contract and competition law, is also doing an excellent job in the Commercial sector and in EU & Competition law according to the latest rating.

The EU, Competition and Antitrust team at Taylor Wessing Czech Republic is well-positioned to handle cartel investigations and merger control proceedings, advising also on cooperation and distribution agreements, unfair practices and state aid. Its clientele includes names both domestic and international from a wide range of sectors seeking support in aspects of competition, EU, and trade law as well as public procurement.

Also recommended by the prestigious agency is the Real Estate & Construction team advising on commercial real estate matters ranging from project finance and development to construction and leasing. The Real Estate & Construction team works closely across the Taylor Wessing network to help clients with cross-border mandates. The team is headed by Jakub Adam, who has many years of experience in transactional advisory services and specialization in matters of real estate and its financing and is regularly involved in advising on construction and property development matters. Another key member of the team is Markéta Cvrčková, partner at the law firm, who has extensive knowledge of leasing and commercial matters related to real estate development.

Other honoured teams at Taylor Wessing Czech Republic included the Dispute Resolution team, which excels in the areas of real estate, construction, intellectual property, competition, as well as manufacturing, IT, publishing and aviation. Its head and also partner of the firm is Aleš Linhart, who routinely represents clients in international and domestic arbitrations.

Not least of all, the recommendation of the agency was given to Taylor Wessing’s Employment team, which assists clients in advising on all areas of employment law across various disciplines, whether it be advising on employment relations of individuals (employees) or collective bargaining issues. The team also handles matters relating to transactional practice, such as the automatic transfer of rights and obligations under employment legislation and issues relating to company reorganisation (such as collective redundancies or transfers within a holding company). In addition, the Employment team deals with management contracts, employee option plans and benefits, remote work, illegal employment issues and the employment of foreigners and of course litigation. Clients also turn to the team with work-related injury, discrimination and various forms of compliance issues including whistleblowing. The Employment team is led by Janka Brezániová, partner at Taylor Wessing Czech Republic with over fifteen years of experience in the field and expertise in all aspects of employment and corporate law.

The new ranking this year went to the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team under the leadership of partner Jakub Adam, who advises both domestic and international clients in complex transactions in various industry sectors. The team focuses on advising investors, banks, financial institutions and businesses, from both the Czech Republic and abroad, on all aspects of their commercial and financial transactions, including a full range of cross-border arrangements for such dealings. Core legal advice centres around real estate and project financing. Clients are also advised on regulation of their business, particularly in the areas of banking regulation and payment transactions.

The Legal 500 ranks the strengths of individual law firms in over 150 jurisdictions. Rankings are based on a range of criteria. Legal practice teams are recognized for providing innovative advice to their clients.
