Taylor Wessing advises Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board on €250 million expansion of Trade Republic's Series C funding round

New capital for Trade Republic: The Berlin-based FinTech company is expanding its latest financing round by €250 million. Lead investor is Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board (Ontario Teachers’), one of the world's largest pension funds. Current investors also participated in the extension round. Ontario Teachers’ was advised on all legal topics related to the Series C extension round by a Taylor Wessing team led by Berlin partner and VC expert Norman Röchert.

After the Trade Republic had raised €740 million in fresh money in May 2021, the valuation has increased to five billion euros post-money. The neobroker's services are currently used by around 280 million customers in six European countries. To ensure that the growth in newcomers to the stock market continues, Trade Republic intends to use the capital gained to develop new products and expand the efficiency of its banking platform.

Ontario Teachers’ manages the assets of more than 333,000 teachers in Ontario, Canada, with more than 240 billion Canadian dollars (about 180 billion euros) in net assets invested worldwide. Its High Conviction Equities team invests in companies that are already listed on the stock exchange or are on a growth course to go public.
