A consortium of investors based in Singapore has taken over 95 percent of Kümpers Composites GmbH & Co KG. With this transaction, the group of buyers has secured the technological know-how and mature product quality of a leading manufacturer of carbon fiber reinforced structural components. The company, on the other hand, will gain access to the promising Asian composites and lightweight construction market via the consortium. The international commercial law firm Taylor Wessing, led by Düsseldorf-based partner Ernst-Albrecht von Beauvais, provided legal advice to the buyer side. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The Salzbergen-Holsterfeld-based specialist for high-tech materials based on carbon, glass and aramid fibers is a supplier to the automotive, aerospace and wind industries with its high-strength composite solutions. The investor group sees the proven and mature technology of Kümpers Composite and the fully automated production at a high quality manufacturing level using robot applications as the cornerstone for the company's rise via the Asian market to become a leading global solution provider and volume manufacturer of carbon composites. For managing director and co-partner Franz-Jürgen Kümpers, who will continue to manage the company after the acquisition, the takeover opens up the opportunity to expand into the future market of Asia. The construction of a production facility in Taicang, near Shanghai (China) is already in construction.
