Taylor Wessing is strategically reorganising its presence in China: The Shanghai office, which was opened in 1996, will become the competence centre for the firm's inbound business in China. With that, the office will be relocated to new, more modern premises. In Beijing, the firm is consolidating its offices and will continue to be represented in the capital by its trademarks and IP agency Beijing Tailun IP Agency. From 2026 on, clients will also be advised from Shenzhen.
The law firm will open a new office in the metropolis of Shenzhen. Shenzhen is not only the fourth largest city in the country, it is also known as China's "Silicon Valley" - a centre of innovation and an important hub for technology and digitalisation. The region, which is only around 50 kilometres from Hong Kong, has been attracting numerous international companies and start-ups for years, particularly in the fields of high technology and digital transformation.
"Our strategic realignment in China is an important step towards strengthening our presence in Asia. As a leading high-tech location with a promising outbound business, Shenzhen offers us the opportunity to grow in one of the world's most dynamic economic regions. At the same time, we are concentrating our inbound expertise in Shanghai, which will enable us to continue to provide excellent service to our clients in a rapidly changing market environment," comments Dr Oliver Bertram, Global Co-Chair at Taylor Wessing.
