Senior associates Charlotte Matthews and George Porter have been included in eprivateclient's 'Top 35 under 35' list 2021.
The rankings are designed to identify, recognise, introduce and promote the rising stars of the private wealth advisory sector. The process began with an open call for nominations for young and upcoming stars within the private client advisory professions, be they lawyers, accountants, trustees or any other professional intermediaries. The nominations were collated with over 550 recorded this year. A rigorous judging process then took place during which each nominee was judged on their achievements over the past 12 months, the source of the nomination, and the number received.
Charlotte is a senior associate, having joined the firm as a trainee over 10 years ago. She is technically strong and has a wide range of experience of different matters, ranging from complex cross-border estate structuring, succession-planning in the context of domestic trusts, and tax investigations. Alongside her client-facing work, Charlotte is a mentor to, and helps develop, more junior members of the team – acting as a trainee supervisor and sharing her knowledge and experiences on matters with the wider team. A nominator said that Charlotte "is a real star. She combines excellent legal technical skills with consummate handling of clients which belies her years of qualification. She is very adept at handling demanding clients and navigating sensitive family dynamics, while presenting advice in a clear and considered manner."
George is a senior associate specialising in contentious trusts. He advises on contentious trust and estate matters with a focus on advising and representing trustees and high net worth individuals on a range of trust issues in litigation. George also advises on disputes involving challenges to wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, proprietary estoppel and other equitable claims including trust Arbitrations. One nominator said that George is “relentless in his determination for his clients to succeed and demonstrates excellent strategic judgement, far beyond his level of PQE. His client handling skills are particularly good and mark him out from his peers. He is fast becoming an excellent practitioner in his field and will no doubt continue his ascent.“
Head of UK Private Wealth Ronald Graham commented: "Both Charlotte and George's recognition in this year's list is reflective of the depth of talent we have in our private wealth team. We have been regarded as a market leader for many years thanks to the exceptional work undertaken by our senior associates . I, along with the whole team, congratulate them on this achievement."
