CEE Group's asset management company, which specialises in investments in renewable energy, has acquired the "Wölsickendorf" wind farm in Brandenburg with a total rated power of 16.8 MW from WKN GmbH, a subsidiary of PNE Group. International law firm Taylor Wessing advised CEE Group on the transaction under the leadership of its Hamburg partner Carsten Bartholl. Hamburg-based CEE Group is thus expanding its onshore wind energy portfolio to a total installed capacity of around 435 MW.
The wind farm comprises four modern Vestas V150 turbines with a capacity of 4.2 MW each. The wind farm will be erected by WKN GmbH and handed over on a turnkey basis. The construction stage began in April and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. After commissioning, PNE Group will be responsible for the technical management of the wind farm.
The “Wölsickendorf” wind farm is CEE Group’s fourth wind farm acquisition from PNE. CEE is active across Germany, France, Scandinavia, Benelux countries and Iberia.
In addition to the portfolio of onshore wind turbines the Hamburg-based CEE Group has photovoltaic plants with a capacity of around 315 MWp; total electricity production in 2018 was around 1.1 billion kilowatt hours.
With assets under management of around EUR 1.4 billion, CEE Group invests in energy generation projects in the wind and solar sector. The investors of CEE Group are institutional investors with a long-term interest in investments in renewable energy. CEE Group was acquired by Brookfield Asset Management in 2017.
