Berliner travel start-up Tourlane, which was founded by Julian Stiefel and Julian Weselek, raised USD 24 million in its Series B financing round. Tourlane offers a vertically-integrated booking platform that replaces the existing model of booking specialty travel via offline agencies and operators. The investment will be mainly used to extent Tourlane’s team from current 120 to 220 people.
Sequoia Capital had been advised of a Venture Capital team of Taylor Wessing, led by Frankfurt partner Hassan Sohbi and of the well-known US-lawfirm Gunderson Dettmer.
Sequoia Capital is a venture capital firm from Silicon Valley and also well-known in this scene. Sequoia has amongst others financed Apple, Cisco, Whatsapp, Paypal and Bird before.
In prior financing rounds Airbnb founder Nathan Blecharczyk and Johannes Reck from Getyourguide already joined Tourlane.
