Infarm, founded in 2013, has developed an in-store farming system which is capable of growing herbs, vegetables and fruit without soil and sun. Their box-like farming units automatically regulate pH levels, temperature, irrigation and nutrient density by using purple LED light and sensors. Over 50 of these modular greenhouse systems are currently used in supermarkets, restaurants and warehouses in Berlin. Infarm will launch operations in Paris, London, Copenhagen, and other German cities later this year.
