Ireland has been chosen as a new EMEA hub for commercial arbitration, underpinning its position as a key player in multi-jurisdictional alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
The Dublin hub of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) is part of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the largest private provider of alternative dispute resolution globally. The centre will be comprised of an advisory board and a panel of Irish arbitrators ready to act across complex and high-value cross-border disputes.
This comes as no surprise considering Ireland's application of common law, sophisticated commercial litigation infrastructure, and the strong relationship between Ireland, the US and beyond, leaving it positioned as a logical neutral ground in the resolution of international commercial disputes.
US businesses will benefit from the hub in dealing with their EMEA counterparts. In announcing the news in New York, Peter Burke, the Minister for Enterprise Tourism and Employment cited Ireland's reputation as a trusted, rules-based and business friendly location – making Dublin an ideal location for ADR.
