Nothing is impossible when you believe in yourself

As part of South Asian Heritage Month, our Balance in Business and Cultural Diversity networks hosted an event where we heard from the inspirational Preet Chandi MBE, a British physiotherapist and British Army medical officer. Preet is the first woman of colour to have completed a solo expedition across Antarctica to the South Pole. Also known as 'Polar Preet', she shared her honest career story and wise words on breaking boundaries in our careers, the importance of self-belief, looking after your mental health and loneliness.

Preet provided a candid account of how she travelled 700 miles in her last South Pole expedition, pulling a sledge of kit, battling temperatures of up to -50c and wind speeds of up to 60mph. By completing this journey, Preet aims to inspire future generations in achieving whatever they desire and pushing boundaries.

This talk was introduced by Elaine Dobson, Partner and senior champion for our gender balance strategy. Preet was interviewed by Ella Bazini, Trainee Solicitor and Sunita Harley, Inclusion Consultant at Taylor Wessing.

We collaborated with the NOTICED network for this event, the UK's first inter-law firm diversity network. The network is open to both lawyers, in law firms and in-house, and those engaged in business services in the legal profession and is supported by The Law Society of England & Wales and Race for Opportunity.

Our talk with Preet is available to watch for 60 days.
