The German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) issued its long-awaited decision on the UPC early on 20 March 2020 (docket number 2 BvR 739/17). It says the German ratification of the UPC Agreement has not sufficiently respected the German Constitution. As the German ratification is mandatory for the UPC to start, the UPC finds itself in a dead end road at the moment.
