As might be expected, much of the retail press has focused on performance over the Christmas period and challenges businesses may be facing in the year ahead. Looking forward, one of the continuing trends is the development of digital and technology solutions and offerings in the retail space. In the food and beverage sector, perhaps in line with the growth of 'Veganuary', we are seeing a growing focus on provenance and ingredients. As illustrated in this article, retailers are progressively tapping into increasing consumer consciousness around health and environmental matters and we can expect to see this develop over the coming twelve months.
