We have advised long-standing client BMLL Technologies on its acquisition by Nordic Capital, a leading international private equity investor. The transaction marks a significant milestone for BMLL, a fast-growth fintech and pioneer in harmonised historical order book data and analytics for capital markets.
The deal involved two of our teams: one advising the company on the sale, led by Howard Palmer and Richard Faichney, and another advising the management team, led by Emma Danks. This transaction is a prime example of our market-leading lifecycle advisory practice and deep expertise in the fast-growth fintech space and growth equity transactions.
Founded in 2014, BMLL delivers Level 3, 2 and 1 order book data across global equities, exchange traded funds, futures and US options. Its cloud-native platform and product suite provides analytics- and AI-ready data “out of the box” to enable banks, asset managers, hedge funds, exchanges and other market participants to access and analyse the deepest available view of the market for research, trading, analytics and compliance.
Nordic Capital’s investment, made in close partnership with BMLL’s existing management and minority shareholder Optiver, will accelerate the company’s next phase of growth, expanding venue coverage and its go-to-market strategy while deepening multi-asset capabilities and ecosystem partnerships.
Nigel Medhurst, CFO and COO of BMLL Technologies, said: "We are delighted to welcome Nordic Capital as our new majority shareholder. Their investment is a strong endorsement of our mission and the value we bring in helping market participants navigate complex capital markets globally. Taylor Wessing has been our trusted advisor for many years throughout our growth journey. Not only do they bring professional execution, but also invaluable current market transaction insight. We are grateful to Howard, Richard and the whole Talyor Wessing team for their amazing support"
Howard Palmer, Corporate Partner at Taylor Wessing, commented: "We’re proud to have supported BMLL for many years now, through multiple funding rounds and now this landmark growth-equity sale to Nordic Capital. The company’s growth trajectory and market impact are a testament to its leadership and innovative business model. We are excited to see what the future holds for Paul, Nigel, Lee and the whole BMLL team."
Richard Faichney, Corporate Partner at Taylor Wessing, added: "This transaction showcases the depth of our lifecycle advisory offering, supporting clients throughout their growth journey, through multiple fundraisings and ultimately at the critical moment of their complex, high-value exit. BMLL is a standout example of our extensive experience supporting the UK fintech sector, and we’re delighted to have played a role in their continued success."
