Taylor Wessing provided comprehensive legal advice to BayWa r.e. Wind GmbH (BayWa r.e.) on the sale of two wind farms in Rhineland-Palatinate to KGAL Investment Management. BayWa r.e. was advised by a Taylor Wessing team led by Hamburg-based partners Dr Tillmann Pfeifer and Dr Angela Menges. The two corporate experts had already advised the energy company on the sale of wind farms in October 2024, when KGAL was also one of the buyers.
The projects sold are the Prüm wind farm in the Eifel region, comprising two wind turbines with a planned total output of 11.4 MW, which is scheduled to go into operation in June 2025. The second property is located in Altenglan and also consists of two wind turbines. With a planned total output of 12.4 MW, it complements the existing Bedesbach wind farm (17.2 MW) and is scheduled for completion by September 2025.
Together, the two wind farms will generate around 80,000 MWh of green electricity per year – enough to cover the needs of more than 24,800 households. BayWa r.e. will continue to be responsible for technical and commercial operations after the sale and will implement measures to promote biodiversity.
