Italy's Cambiaso Risso Group, specialising in marine risk coverage, has acquired Trident Specialist Risks, a German broker specialized in insurer of maritime risks. A Taylor Wessing team led by German M&A expert Dr Amir-Said Ghassabeh, together with Italian law firm GPDlex, advised the Genoa-based insurance group on all legal aspects of the acquisition of the Hamburg-based company.
With the acquisition of Trident Special Risk, Cambiaso Risso has gained a foothold in the German marine insurance market for the first time, and further steps in the local market are to follow. The internationally operating company generated premia of 407 million euros in 2022 with around 300 employees and recorded net commissions of 46 million euros.
Trident Special Risks Versicherungsmakler GmbH was founded in 2011 by Leo Kissel as a brokerage company for special risks and hull insurance. After the takeover, the current management of Trident Special Risks will continue to run the operative business.
