Taylor Wessing advises Balderton Capital on €50 million Series B financing round in Avi Medical

Healthcare start-up Avi Medical GmbH (Avi Medical) has raised €50 million in fresh capital in a Series B financing round. The round was led by Balderton Capital, with existing investors including Heal Capital, Addition, Picus Capital, Vorwerk Ventures, Eurazeo and 3VC also among the backers. A Taylor Wessing team led by Berlin-based VC expert Norman Röchert advised Balderton Capital on all aspects of the financing round.

The business model of the Munich-based company aims to digitize family medical surgeries into a hybrid model: The formal processes of a visit to the practice are carried out without exception by modern IT applications, and additional telemedical services supplement the personal exchange between doctor and patient. In 2020, the start-up launched a practice based on this concept for the first time. By the end of 2022, the founders plan to operate 20 Medical Avi practices in Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.
