We are pleased to announce the appointment of Max Millington as a new partner in our UK Banking and Finance team. Max joins us from another global law firm, where he was a partner specialising in leveraged finance and event-driven corporate lending.
Max brings a wealth of experience, particularly in domestic and cross-border private debt across the breadth of the mid-market and beyond. His expertise spans direct lending, junior and super-senior financings, rescue financings, financial restructuring and special situations investments. Recognised for his work in private credit and sponsor-side advisory, he has a strong track record of advising private equity sponsors and lenders of all types on a range of transactions.
Max's arrival is a strategic move to enhance our leveraged finance and private credit capabilities. This appointment provides a significant opportunity to grow a specialised practice that aligns with the needs of our Private Equity team and other sector clients. By leveraging our existing, well-respected Banking practice, Max and his colleagues, including partner Martin Yells, will provide clients with a leading, specialist mid-market offering in these areas.
Our strategy is to integrate sponsor-side leveraged finance within our private equity practice to create a top-tier mid-market offering for clients – which in recent years has seen an increasing focus on the upper mid-market. This hire will also serve as a platform to expand our strong presence across financing products on the lender side.
Shane Gleghorn, Taylor Wessing's UK Managing Partner, commented: "We're delighted to welcome Max to the firm. His practice is a great fit for our Banking and Finance team and will significantly enhance the services we offer our clients. Max’s appointment reinforces our commitment to the private equity and private credit market."
Heather Buttle, Head of Taylor Wessing's UK Banking and Finance team, said: "I'm thrilled to have Max join our team. He brings extensive experience across the full spectrum of leveraged finance transactions. His comprehensive understanding of both the sponsor and lender perspectives, combined with his practical approach, will further strengthen our service offering and put us in an ideal position to support our clients' financing goals."
Max Millington added: "I'm very pleased to join Taylor Wessing's Banking and Finance team. I look forward to spearheading growth in my key practice areas of leveraged finance and private credit, as well as collaborating with my new colleagues across the firm's international network to deliver the solutions and expertise which will help our clients and intermediaries to realise their debt financing objectives."
The appointment comes at a time of considerable opportunity in the leveraged finance market, with private equity and private credit funds holding significant "dry powder" (capital ready for investment). Our ambition is to become the go-to mid-market firm for both creditors and sponsors/borrowers, serving the private credit and alternative capital provider segments as well as traditional financial institutions.
