The plug-and-play robot automation platform RobCo has raised USD 42.5 million fresh capital in a Series B financing round. The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners ("Lightspeed") with participation of existing investors Sequoia Capital, Kindred and Promus Ventures. Lightspeed was comprehensively advised on all legal aspects of the transaction by a Taylor Wessing team led by Berlin-based VC partner Dr Norman Röchert.
Founded in Munich in 2020, RobCo develops modular industrial robots that automate work processes efficiently and flexibly as plug-and-play solutions. Thanks to fully integrated AI and with the help of numerous interfaces, the modules can be flexibly combined with each other so that the robotic support can be used for applications such as palletising or turning or milling machines in the shortest possible time. The start-up relies on a robot-as-a-service business model in which the RobCo products are provided on a rental basis. With this offering, the company is targeting SMEs in particular, which can rely on easy-to-use robot solutions in times of a shortage of skilled labour and uncertain supply chains.
