Are you aware of the new acronym in the tourism industry "3V"?
"Visit, Vaccine and Vacation" is a new concept circulating around the sector. It has taken on a greater focus this week as the Maldives tourism minister has disclosed that the Maldives legislature are considering promoting the Maldives as a destination under this tagline. The principle being that the Maldives, which anticipates being the first country to have vaccinated its entire population, would use surplus vaccines for tourists. They would offer travellers two doses of COVID-19 vaccines several weeks apart which encourages weeks-long stays in the island nation and would provide a huge boost to the tourism industry. Dubai is also rumoured to be about to announce a similar program for a 3 week stay with the first jab when you arrive and a second jab as you fly out.
