Judges in the Unified Patent Court

The national patent systems of several European countries are leading the world, in particular, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands. This is the picture established by Taylor Wessing’s fourth Global Intellectual Property Index (GIPI4). However, as patent owners and their competitors await the impact of the most fundamental change to the European patent system in at least 40 years – the Unified Patent Court (“UPC”) and unitary patent – are these countries and others in Europe setting the continent in good stead, or will all this good work be lost?
