Taylor Wessing advises HV Hospitality on Six Senses partnership for €100m Mediterranean escape

We have advised HV Hospitality (a subsidiary of Hili Ventures), on its management agreement with Six Senses, the leading luxury resort brand in sustainable tourism, for a new €100 million luxury resort in Comino, Malta.

Six Senses Comino, scheduled to open in 2027, will be located across two bays on the Maltese island of Comino and will feature 71 low rise suites, standalone retreats, a themed spa, farm-to-table dining, and a variety of cultural, leisure, wellness, and sporting activities. The two sites will be fully rebuilt within the existing area of the previous development using the least impacting construction methods.

The project will respect all aspects of the Natura 2000 Management Plan through a holistic design strategy that will carefully dismantle the existing structures, regenerate important portions of disturbed land and improve the skyline by reducing the height of the retreats to a single level. The development also plans to include natural cross-ventilation, thermal mass and installation of low-consumption systems and solar thermal units to reduce energy consumption.

Commenting on the transaction, head of our Hotels, Hospitality and Leisure group Richard Bursby said: "It has been great to work with HV Hospitality on this partnership with Six Senses and help them secure their vision of sensitively redeveloping the existing old hotel and operating an environmentally friendly hotel on this unique and special island."

Melo Hili, Chief Executive Officer of Hili Ventures said: "As one of the world's leading hotel brands in sustainable tourism, Six Senses is the perfect match for the new property, and indeed for Comino. We wanted to work with Taylor Wessing because of the firm's reputation and extensive experience in the sector and have been impressed with the results. Richard and the team's expertise and collaborative approach has been essential.”

The transaction was led by partner Richard Bursby with support from senior associate Jack Wain in the Corporate Real Estate and Private Capital team and senior associate Mary Rendle in the Commercial Technology and Data team.
