We advised Rockpool Investments and management shareholders on Rockpool's exit from its investment in Boston Multi Family Office (Boston MFO), one of the Isle of Man's highest profile trust and fiduciary services businesses. Following Rockpool’s exit, Horizon Capital will take a majority stake in the company.
We previously advised Rockpool on the management buyout of Boston MFO from its family office ownership in 2019, and advised Boston MFO on the acquisition of IQE in 2020.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval.
Commenting on the deal, private equity partner Jonny Bethell said: "We are delighted to have advised on Rockpool's successful exit from Boston MFO. It has been a pleasure to work with Rockpool and the management team on the original investment in 2019, a transformational bolt-on and on this transaction."
Guy Ellis, partner at Rockpool Investments, said: "We’ve loved working with the team at Boston and wish them all the best in continuing their journey with Horizon. Jonny and Alice at Taylor Wessing have been instrumental in supporting Rockpool and the business from the initial MBO, through transformational growth, all the way to exit. We are delighted to have worked with the team from start to finish on the investment."
Katherine Ellis, Boston Group CEO, added: "The last 3 years since the MBO has been a great period of growth for Boston, and we are excited about the next phase with our new partners at Horizon. Jonny, Alice and all the team at Taylor Wessing have been a great support to us since the MBO and it's been a pleasure to work with such a professional, hardworking team.”
The team was led by partner Jonny Bethell with support from associates Alice Picton and Catherine Ossai in the private equity group.
