Niri Shan cements position as top reputation lawyer in Spear's index

Niri Shan, partner and head of media at international law firm Taylor Wessing, has again been named one of the UK's top ten reputation lawyers by Spear's, one of the leading private wealth publications.

The Spear's Reputation Management Index, published this week, is the result of extensive research into the views of high net worth individuals, their advisors, and peers in the reputation management sector.

As stated in the survey, peers have described Niri as a ‘polished operator’ and highlights include working to obtain an injunction against an anonymous blackmailer, to stop the release of false criminal allegations to the media and advising clients on protecting privacy during divorce.

This is one of the many accolades that Niri has received from Spear's. In 2018, Niri was named 'Media, Privacy and Reputation Lawyer of the Year' at the Spear's Wealth Management Awards. In the same year, he was listed as a top ten reputation lawyer.

Alongside his accolade from Spear's, Niri's work has earned him induction into The Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which highlights individuals who have received constant praise from their clients over a number of years for continued excellence and who are at the pinnacle of the profession. Niri is listed both for reputation management and in the Media & Entertainment – Publishing; litigation category. This recognition reflects Niri's unique position in the marketplace, as he works for both claimants (individuals and companies), as well as media defendants. He is especially noted for his depth of connection with the media and their lawyers, with whom he engages in a collaborative, nuanced and non-aggressive way to arrive at quiet conclusions to challenging matters that preserve clients' relationships with the media. He regularly advises on defamation, privacy and breach of confidence issues relating to high-profile newsworthy issues as well as clients involved in complex commercial or personal disputes with a reputation angle requiring particular strategic thinking and expertise.
