Advising CalAmp on acquisition of TRACKER

Taylor Wessing has advised a US telematics and technology solutions pioneer, CalAmp (Nasdaq: CAMP), on its acquisition of TRACKER, a LoJack® licensee and market leader in stolen vehicle recovery and telematics services across the UK.

CalAmp is a longstanding client of Taylor Wessing, having worked with the firm since its first expansion into Europe in 2013.

As part of the acquisition, TRACKER will be strategically aligned with LoJack Italia, a similar existing model in CalAmp's operation, and help drive CalAmp’s European expansion by leveraging the company’s vertically integrated portfolio of telematics devices, cloud and software services to develop advanced connected car solutions.

Mark Barron, Corporate Technology Partner at Taylor Wessing, said: "We have worked with CalAmp since 2013, and it is very rewarding to now be part of this strategically important acquisition. Helping US tech firms as they look to expand and grow into Europe is at the heart of what we do, and the success of this transaction is testament to that."

Justin Schmid, general manager of LoJack® International Operations, said: “The acquisition of TRACKER is an important strategic milestone for us that will increase our opportunities to engage with global enterprise customers and expand our European market penetration. Taylor Wessing has been a valuable partner for CalAmp and we look forward to working with Mark, Siobhán and their team again in the future."

The Taylor Wessing team was led by partner Mark Barron, senior associate Siobhán Langwade and associate Roshni Thakkar (Corporate Technology), with support from Mark Owen and Karen Dorsey (IP & Media), Mark Smith and Micol Flegenheimer (Pensions), Sián Skelton, Angus Finnegan, Rachel Jones, Jared McIntosh and Mary Rendle (Commercial Technology & Data), Roxane Davey (Employment), and Ann Casey, James Stewart and Madison Lawler (Tax and Incentives).
