Taylor Wessing advises DigiCert on QuoVadis acquisition

Taylor Wessing has advised DigiCert, the world's leading provider of TLS/SSL, IoT and other PKI solutions, on its acquisition of the QuoVadis Group from WISeKey International Holding Ltd, a leading Swiss cybersecurity and IoT company.

QuoVadis is a Qualified Trust Service Provider (TSP) in the EU and Switzerland whose digital certificates comply with eIDAS, the EU's regulation governing electronic transactions in the European Single Market. As part of the deal, DigiCert will continue to operate QuoVadis as an EU TSP, specialising in qualified digital certificates and related services for Europe, as well as enterprise managed PKI services.

The acquisition aligns with DigiCert’s vision of providing globally dispersed and robust PKI solutions with local support, and further reinforces its commitment to Europe.

The Taylor Wessing team was led by Partner Mark Barron and Senior Counsel David Bates, with support from Associate Victor Chang (Corporate Technology), Partner Sian Skelton and Associate Matthew Ives (Commercial Technology and Data), Partner Robert Young (Tax and Incentives), and Associate Michael Chattle (Employment).

Commenting on the deal, Mark Barron, Corporate Technology Partner, said: "DigiCert has built an excellent reputation in the market and this acquisition will further strengthen its position and open new avenues of growth and innovation. We're very excited by what the future holds for the business and look forward to continuing to work with them as they build on this latest success."

Mike Johnson, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at DigiCert, added: "Taylor Wessing served as an excellent partner on this transaction, providing timely, commercial advice throughout a compressed diligence and negotiation process, ultimately leading to a successful outcome for DigiCert. The team was particularly effective at turning tense discussions into productive and practical solutions. We’re pleased to have engaged Taylor Wessing on this transaction."
