Government publishes Guidance on new holiday rules from 1 January 2024
The Government has published Guidance on the new holiday rules which apply from 1 January 2024. The guidance covers how carry-over of leave works, how holiday accrues and is calculated for irregular and part-year workers, and what is included on a week's pay for certain purposes. The Guidance leaves many questions unanswered, such as when someone is to be considered an irregular hours worker.

UK to raise minimum salary for foreign skilled workers
The UK’s Home Secretary has announced a series of tough new visa measures, aiming to reduce the number of people moving to the UK by around 300,000 each year. The five-point plan is the government’s response to its view that net migration to the UK of around 672,000 for the year to June 2023 is too high. A summary can be found here although since publication the government has rowed back on its previous announcement to increase the minimum income thresholds for spouse, partner and family visas in spring 2024 and this will increase in stages.
