Following the last Hospitality News 14 days ago where we said it was time for the 2 metre social distancing rule to become the 1 metre rule, we were really delighted to see this week that the government has given a lifeline to the hospitality sector by allowing pubs, restaurants and hotels to open with "1 metre plus" social distancing.
This is positive news for the industry - but only the beginning of a long road to full recovery. With a 43-page advisory document for reopening on 4 July it is clear that the sector faces significant challenges to operate profitably given the limits on tables, extensive cleaning protocols and the potential requirement to record customer details. We encourage you all to support the sector by going out to eat and drink!
At a staggering $100,000 per night, the Empathy Suite in the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas is the world's most expensive hotel room. Designed by Damien Hirst and located just off the Las Vegas Strip, the suite is a two-story villa featuring two master bedrooms and a 13-seat bar. We do wonder though how "cool" these ostentatious displays of wealth will be in a post-Covid world?
