Connected Products, Connected Risks – Cybersecurity as Key to EU Market Access

Connected products, software, and embedded AI are fundamentally reshaping modern devices – and creating new regulatory challenges. Cybersecurity vulnerabilities are increasingly translating into physical safety risks, making cybersecurity a core element of product liability and market access in the EU.

In his presentation at the 9th VERE Panel Event, Dr. Benedikt Rohrßen will provide a practical perspective on how regulatory requirements – particularly under the Cyber Resilience Act, EU product safety law, and the evolving liability framework – interact. The focus will be on the concrete implications for CE marking, product development, and the allocation of responsibilities along the supply chain.

While the event will take place in German, there will be LIVE-TRANSLATION onto headsets into English through interpreter at the venue.

About VERE e.V.

The German Association for the Take-back and Recovery of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (VERE e.V.) is a Europe-wide industry association representing manufacturers, importers, and distributors of non-food products. VERE supports its members in navigating complex EU regulatory requirements, particularly in relation to extended producer responsibility (e.g. WEEE, batteries, packaging), as well as increasingly in areas such as product safety, liability, and sustainability.

With more than 4,000 members, VERE places a strong emphasis on representing the interests of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and advocates for practical and competitive regulatory frameworks within the EU internal market.

Join a high-level panel discussion addressing the key challenges faced by European SMEs in an environment of increasing regulation, global competition, and economic pressure. Leading experts from public authorities, industry, and practice will discuss current developments and provide practical insights on product safety, market surveillance, and compliance.

The event is free of charge for VERE members.
Take the opportunity to exchange views, discuss current trends, and connect with leading experts in the field.
