Our training contract 

Within a small intake of around 25 graduates, you'll find the support you need to flourish throughout your training contract while benefiting from the experience you need to become a brilliant lawyer. Across two years, you'll move through four six-months seats in different practice groups. All trainee solicitors take on a seat in either Corporate or Finance, and at least one seat must involve contentious work.

Summer Vacation Scheme 2023

Our Summer Vacation Scheme 2023 is the only way to be considered for a September 2024/2025 training contract position with the firm. Throughout the two-week scheme you will be sat in two different practice areas, being fully immersed in life as a Taylor Wessing trainee solicitor. You will also be involved in socials, assessed tasks and networking. 

To be eligible to apply for our Summer Vacation Scheme you will be in your second year of your degree or beyond. 

The dates of our 2023 Summer Vacation Scheme are:

  • 5–16 June 2023.
  • 2–14 July 2023.

Applications open on 1 September and close on 1 December.

Application process

Stage 1: Application form

You will be required to submit an online application which details your work and education history. There will also be competency questions for you to complete. 

Stage 2: Behavioural based assessment

After screening your application, we may ask you to complete our behavioural based assessment. This online game looks at the way you approach tasks and deal with new situations. Once completed, you'll received a personalised feedback report detailing your strengths.  

Stage 3: Assessment centre

Taking place between January – March , the assessment centre is the final stage of our process. They are designed to be flexible and welcoming, testing your abilities in a friendly environment. During the assessment centre, you'll take part in a group exercise, commercial awareness exercise and competency-based interview. 

Open days 

Throughout October and November, we will be running a series of open days where you will get the chance to learn more about the firm, think commercially and hear from both senior lawyers and trainee solicitors. These will be hosted in person in our London office and you will need to complete an application form to attend.

Webinar series

Our core sector focus is key to our success at Taylor Wessing. Throughout Autumn, Senior Lawyers at the Firm will run a series of webinar's talking you through the pivotal role of each sector. There will also be a chance to hear around innovation and legal technology from Innovation specialists at the Firm. These will be held online. 

First year opportunities

In April 2023 we will be hosting our two-day First Year Insight Scheme where you will get the chance to learn more about the firm, network and think commercially. The First Year Insight Scheme is a great step to ensure you are ready to apply for the 2024 Summer Vacation Scheme come Autumn 2023.
