    Innovative foods made from so-called genome-edited plants or products with new ingredients are waiting in the wings - and pose regulatory challenges for the EU. Changes in consumer behavior are also prompting legislators to take action: It has recently responded to the increasing purchase of food via the Internet with a bundle of requirements for online retailers. In addition, a new Price Indication Directive is due to come into force at the end of May 2022 without any interim periods, which will ensure greater transparency and insight into pricing in supermarkets and the like, and will place greater restrictions on many discount campaigns in the future.
