Munich-based Taylor Wessing partner Dr Christian Tenkhoff has been appointed head of Beijing Tailun IP Agency Co. Ltd. (Tailun), based in Beijing, China. Taylor Wessing and Tailun have been working together since mid-2022 as part of an exclusive partnership to offer legal services in the field of intellectual property in China. Tailun was previously headed by Dr Thomas Pattloch, who left the firm at the end of September.
Renowned trademark and IP lawyer Dr Christian Tenkhoff has been with Taylor Wessing since 2014 and was appointed equity partner in 2024. He specialises in the management of global trademark portfolios and litigation in complex trademark disputes, mostly with cross-border implications. With this appointment, the firm aims not only to continue the economic success of the trademark agency, but also to expand it further in the medium term.
"The agency offers enormous added value for our international trademark law practice. We know that we have a trademark agency at our side that meets our high quality standards and can also expand the trademark protection of our clients locally in China. This enables us to provide seamless advice to globally active companies – from registration and administration to the enforcement of their trademark rights in the European and Chinese markets," comments Tenkhoff.
Olaf Gillert, head of the Advertising & Design practice group at Taylor Wessing Germany: "Christian Tenkhoff combines comprehensive international trademark law expertise with a clear strategic eye for the requirements of globally active companies. He is the ideal successor to Thomas Pattloch and will further expand Tailun's position as our successful trademark agency in the Chinese market."
Tailun employs several lawyers licensed to practise in China and collaborates exclusively with Taylor Wessing. The range of services in China is rounded off by the Taylor Wessing Representative Office in Shanghai.
